Why are you running for this position

I have been a member of the women’s health section on and off for the past several years.  My practice has evolved to include more and more women’s health as the need in my area increases.  Previously, I have served our professional association in many capacities, but as my practice evolves, I feel more passionate about getting more involved in the Section.  I am particularly interested in assisting with research as this parallels my current clinical movement towards researching women’s health, as it relates to chronic pain in this population.  I am also hard working and enthusiastic.  As a front line clinical therapist, I also understand some of the research that a clinician in women’s health would find relevant in practice.  With the development of ACOs and the changing healthcare environment, research in women’s health will become even more important.  I want to be a part of keeping us innovative and relevant during these times.

Why are you running for this position

I have been a physical therapist in for 6 ½ years. I have been fortunate enough to work for a private outpatient company that has allowed me to create a women’s health practice.  Building a practice has been a challenging and, at times, frustrating business. It has required a tremendous amount of organization, drive, steadfastness of purpose and creativity. I believe I can bring these same characteristics to the Director of Education.

I am a passionate advocate for our profession. In these chaotic days of healthcare change, I believe the role of physical therapists will only grow and expand. It is important that we are on the forefront of new research and new treatment techniques. As Director of Education, I will work to make sure that the Section on Women’s Health is providing the materials to meet these growing demands.  I will welcome your input as to how we can strengthen our educational offerings to further your personal and professional development.

Lastly, physical therapy is my second career. I spent several years in web marketing and then decided to return to school.   I have a skill set that includes content development for the internet as well as marketing.
